One of the great things about a small town is that when there is an event the whole town gathers. Every November and right through to the new year the downtown core is lit up, well I guess you would say lit up like a Christmas tree. Tonight was the opening ceremonies. There is just a small amount of snow on the ground, and though the wind was a little chilly it was a nice night to be out, and so most of the town was there.
Even though the lights are pretty much the same every year I can't help but want to go. For the last 24 years lights, displays and decorations have been hung from the chi cheemaun in the habour, all along the river and down into Harrison park, more than 18K of lights. At 7 fireworks are let off, and then a lucky kid who won the colouring contest counts down and lights up the streets. There are horse-pull carriage rides, clowns, hot chocolate, the chip wagon, and moonlight madness.
